Khajjiar
Khajjiar is a circular meadow ringed by deodar at about 1,950 metres, 22 km from Dalhousie, with a small lake at its centre. It is a half-day stop rather than an overnight, and it is markedly better early in the morning before the day traffic arrives.

Going early
The meadow is genuinely beautiful at eight in the morning and a fairground by noon, with paragliding touts, zorbing and horse rides. The difference is entirely about timing, and it is the single most useful thing to know about the place.
Khajji Nag temple
A twelfth-century temple at the edge of the meadow, with wooden carving and a stone shrine. It takes twenty minutes and most day-trippers walk past it.
Questions people ask
Is Khajjiar worth visiting?
Yes, as a half-day from Dalhousie and preferably in the morning. It is a striking meadow, but it is small and gets busy, so people expecting a full day there are usually disappointed.
