Near By Place
We reached Nako in the evening and were really disappointed with the hospitality of the village. Some large groups of foreigners occupied all the restaurants so none was ready to prepare our meals. Fortunately a kind lady allowed us in her home stay in really budget price and even cooked food for us.
Road to Nako
Situated at an elevation of 3800 meters; Nako is a small village in upper Kinnaur which connects Kinnaur to Spiti Valley. Nako is often a one night stop for the travelers entering to Spiti or exiting from Spiti. A small lake adjoining the village and an ancient monastery (900 year old) are the prime attraction of the town. Visiting Nako Lake and Monastery were the prime sightseeing in the morning.

The historical monastery of Nako was established in the first half of eleventh century by Lochen Rinchen Zangpo (The great traslator Ratan Bhadra). This monastery has four chapels, on entering the main gate and walking clock-wise one can see an ordinary single storeyed chapel which is occasionally used as kitchen and is called Jan-Khang.
