Prashar Lake
Prashar Lake, at an altitude of 2730 m above sea level, is considered to have been a sacred place of Sage Prashar. There is a three-tiered Pagoda styled temple on the banks of this lake, where different cultural festivals are celebrated by the villagers. The lake is surrounded by snow-covered mountains and the Beas River.
Kamaksha Devi Temple
Kamaksha Devi temple at Kao village is dedicated to Kamaksha Devi, an incarnation of Goddess Durga. Local people believe that demon Mahishasura was killed by Goddess Durga at this place. The demon was in the form of a buffalo and hence, numerous buffaloes are sacrificed at this temple on the eve of Navratri. This shrine has been designed in traditional Pagoda architectural style, with beautiful wood carvings and paintings.
Mahunag Temple
Mahunag temple, in the town of Naldehra, is devoted to Mahun Nag, popularly known as ‘the great snake’. It is situated on the main Karsog-Shimla Road and can be reached from Shimla by bus.
